Patterson put on D/L, Restovich to Columbus.
To the surprise of probably no one, John Patterson was put on the disabled list on Sunday because of right elbow/biceps soreness. This is a real shame, he had been making recent progress in his recovery from arm problems last year.
Outfielder Michael Restovich was sent down to AAA Columbus to make room for Nook Logan as both he and shortstop Christian Guzman return from the disabled list themselves on Monday.
Jason Simontacchi is due to pitch on Tuesday, his first major league start in 3 years, and if I were a betting man, I'd say that Jason will take Patterson's place in the rotation, but it's tricky. Patterson's next scheduled outing would have been this coming Thursday, an off-day, so they probably would have had him pitch Friday, but now that is in doubt. Simontacchi probably won't be asked to pitch on two day's rest. My guess is, they will have Shawn Hill pitch, since he will have had 5 days rest by then, but anything is possible. Heck, they might decide to activate someone else on the 40-man roster, who knows?

Joe-Just so you know, Restovich was OUTRIGHTED to Columbus, but that does not mean he will end up there. Michael must first clear Waivers from all other 29 teams, this usually takes up to 48 hours. He is out of options. If someone claims him, he will automatically go to that teams Major League Roster and a 40 Man Roster spot has to be cleared for him. Its not definite he will clear waivers. Which is too bad. Personally, I like him. He didn't produce though.
