Stuff and nonsense
I saw this item over at District of Baseball and I could barely believe it. Gotta hand it to the Brewers to come up with unusual promotions. Wow. I picture Jack Elam's inebriated Dr. Nikolas Van Helsing from the "Cannonball Run" movies interviewing the, um, candidates for the promotion's procedure ("..not to be indelicate, but in my profession; if you've seen one, you've seen them all.")
Once again, most (if not all) major league teams will have players using pink bats this Sunday for Mother's Day to raise awareness for breast cancer research. A worthy gesture for a very worthy cause, and I'm proud of MLB for continuing to do this, but like last year, I'm wondering just why MLB doesn't make a similar gesture on Father's Day, to raise awareness for prostate cancer research, for instance. Rather than using a different-colored bat, perhaps they could use a different piece of baseball equipment and have it be blue in color? Just a thought.
