Nats lose to Bucs in 9th 3-2 OR Pirates pillage powerless pro's
The Nats completed a rough 3-6 homestand yesterday afternoon, losing 3-2 in the 9th inning as Chad Cordero allowed a homerun to Jason Bay which put the Pittsburgh Pirates up 3-2, and the Nats couldn't rally in the bottom of the inning.
Nats starter Matt Chico pitched one of his most effective games of the season, going 7 innings, throwing 104 pitches for 63 strikes (61%) and allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks and he struck out 5. Unfortunately, he got very little run support, as the Nats only got 3 hits the entire game.
Dmitri Young continued his offensive tear with a 2 run homer in the 1st to put the Nats up early. He is so much fun to watch.
Ryan Report: Not a whole lot here, alas. Church went 1 for 3 with a double, Zimmerman went 1 for 4 with a double, Langerhans went 0 for 3, and Austin Ryan Kearns went 0 for 4. Congratulations, Ian Snell.
The reported ticket sales for the game were almost 26,000. It was a bright and sunny day, kinda hot but great to see a ballgame in. I, unfortunately, had to work and couldn't get out of it.
